Tufted Coquette (Lophornus ornatus)
Photo description
Male. 'Birds of Venezuela' by Steven Hilty, 2nd edition 2003 mentions that some movement of these birds between Trinidad and Venezuela is likely (Venezuela is 10 miles from Trinidad at the closest point). This is an uncommon and erratic resident (visitor?) to many places in the 2 countries with a spotty distribution. f/7.1, iso 1600, exp comp minus 1.0, 1/1250. Canon 20D/400DO with 1.4.

Consider yourself lucky. I spent the first 16 years of my life in Trinidad and never saw a humming bird like this. Then again, I was never in the ASA wright Nature Center which is a mecca for diversity.
