This raptor has broad bluntly rounded wings with a long accipiter-like tail and a rather small pale gray head. The flight feathers are a bold white coarsely barred black. From Trinidad. f/7.1, iso 800, exp comp plus 2.0, 1/640.
Great! So, for shots looking up with a lot of sky you shoot +EV? I've been burned by doing the opposite! But I'm always weary of over-exposing and clipping the highlights... I've also tried spot metering and center-weighted.
Do you have any suggestions for getting good exposures of birds in flight like this? +EV, anything else? Thanks, Jon
Thanks much Jon! It seems like I do often use +EV shooting into the sky often even at +2. I try to take a quick look at my screen to get a feel if the exposure is right if I have time. Probably also nice to get a decent shutter speed. Esp for birds actively flying as opposed to soaring. Unfortunately this often means upping the iso. Kent
