White-chested Emerald (Agyrtria brevirostris)
White-chested Emerald (Agyrtria brevirostris)
Photo description
The sexes are similar, but the female has gray tips to the outer tail-feathers. The "Handbook of Birds of the World" (Vol. 5, page 598) calls this species A. brevirostris. Using this taxonomy, A. b. chionopectus then becomes the subspecies endemic to Trinidad which is larger than the two mainland races. Also, Agyrtria is often merged into the genus Amazilla.
