White-winged Becard (Pachyramphus polychopterus)
White-winged Becard (Pachyramphus polychopterus)
Photo description
from the old Waller airbase in Trinidad. The most common becard in Venezuela. The becards appear difficult to classify and have been placed in both Cotingidae and Tyrannidae but perhaps nearest Schiffornis. Schiffornis was formerly placed with manakins; now believed allied to Laniocera and Laniisoma mourners and to Pachyramphus, Xenopsaris, and Iodopleura in a group intermediate between flycatchers, manakins and cotingas. (Birds of Venezuela by Steven Hilty 2003). f/7.1, exp comp plus one-third, iso 1600, 1/160.
