Photo description
This bird has been hanging around a small park in central Iowa for the last several days. This beautiful bird is an accidental in Iowa with only a few previous sightings. The nesting range includes Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Florida and Louisiana. They are mostly monogamous and are solitary or in pairs during breeding season. They are shy, secretive and often difficult to see. f/9.0, exp comp 0, iso 1600, 1/250. Photographed 5/13/06 with Canon 20D/400DO/1.4
