Here are Jake and Josh on the last day of the trip. We had just flown in on a smaller plane from Arey Island to Kaktovik and now were onboard for the 2 and a half hour flight back to Fairbanks. Our plane to pick us up on Arey Island was a few hours late and standing around in the 40 mph winds waiting we were pretty anxious to move on. Before boarding this plane we stopped into a small hotel/restaurant in Kaktovik owned by a bush pilot who had lived there for 35 years. When I sat down in a real chair in a real room for the first time in 12 days I just found myself repeating the word 'wow' several times. A great adventure but the satisfaction of having completed it was setting in. After a short 'recovery' though we all seem to kind of miss the physical exertion and closeness to the wilderness.....
