Yellow-billed Tern (Sternula superciliaris)
Yellow-billed Tern (Sternula superciliaris)
Photo description
We saw this one along a sandbar with about 8 Black Skimmers. It always amazes me the patterns that birds follow. In Birds of Northern South America by Robin Restall he states "Often seen on river sandbanks with Black Skimmers" Widespread and fairly common along river systems east of the Andes. Previously placed in genus Sterna. Sometimes called Amazon Tern.
