Photo description
Adult, foreground, and juvenile. Feeds on carrion, road kills, small animals and reptiles. Common in Guyana. Note on nomenclature from Birds of Northern South America by Robin Restall (2006)... "Previously Polyborus plancus cheriway, buy we follow AOU (1998) and, thus, revisions by Banks & Dove (1992; name Caracara antedates name Polyborus) and Dove & Banks (1999; C. plancus is best considered 3 species, including C. cheriway). Formerly called Crested Caracara. IOC-recommended English name is Northern Crested Caracara" f/5.6, iso 400, 1/1000
