This bird used to be named Wing-barred Manakin and is still considered a manakin but may not actually be. Some people think the overall shape and color pattern more resemble the becards. Also the sexes are similar and the birds often travel in mixed flocks gleaning for insects in foilage. Others think they are more like cotingas.
