Photo description
From fairly high up in the trees along one of the trails at Sacha Lodge, Ecuador. Puffbirds are a neotropical family of chunky birds with large heads and short necks, stout hooked bills, and small weak feet. They feed on large insects and even small vertebrates such as lizards. They nest in burrows dug into banks, a few species in termitaries. f/6.3, iso 1600, exp comp plus 1.0, 1/80.
