Green Backed Heron - Bird photography and identification
Knobbed Hornbill (Aceros cassidix)
Knobbed Hornbill (Aceros cassidix)
Photo description
Male. This was probably the most spectacular bird I saw in Sulawesi. Hornbills in general are spectacular birds and this one is especially colorful. This large Sulawesi, Indonesia endemic (104cm), similar to large mammals, requires large expanses of forest for its survival. Male. Tangkoko DuaSudara Nature Reserve.

Spectacular is an understatement. This bird does not even look real (like one of those painted parrots!). I would love to see such a bird!
