Amazonian Umbrellabird (Cephaolpterus ornatus)
Photo description
Male with the white eye. This is a member of the interesting exclusively Neotropical cotingas. Cotingas are for the most part birds of humid forest canopy and subcanopy that feed mainly if not exclusively on fruit. Many are adorned with strange crests, fancy feathers, and odd wattles. f/6.3, iso 800, exp comp plus one and two-thirds, 1/640.

Great shot. The eye isn't useful for separating the sexes (contrary to the claim in at least one recent book, both sexes do have white irides). It's still a sub-ad. male though; at this age easiest to separate from the female by the narrow white front to the crest.
