This owl with the large, impressive white eyebrows was seen around dusk on our initial hike into Sacha Lodge, Ecuador. This is the female of a roosting pair. The male was thinner and even further back into the shadows. The fine filigreed vermiculations over the entire plumage can also be somewhat seen as well as short rows of white spots on the outer wing coverts. The light morphs have a patch of white in the centre of the breast. f/6.3, iso 1600, exp comp minus one, 1/15.
