Hauxwell's Thrush (Turdus hauxwelli)
Hauxwell's Thrush (Turdus hauxwelli)
Photo description
This one made a brief appearance overhead along one of the trails at Sacha Lodge, Ecuador. It is wary and usually keeps to the thickets only rarely coming out at edges and in clearings. It is rare to locally uncommon in east Ecuador and southeast Colombia. Apparently an accomplished mimic, and 1 individual responded to playback with a subsong that comprised imitations of at least 10 bird species found in that habitat (Collar) (Birds of N. South America, Restall) J. Hauxwell (fl. 1854) collector resident in Peru. f/6.3, iso 1600, exp comp plus one, 1/800.
