Blue-headed Parrot (Pionus menstruus)
Blue-headed Parrot (Pionus menstruus)
Photo description
From a parrot lick along the Rio Napo, Ecuador. The head is rich blue with a charcoal-grey patch on the ear-coverts. Pionus are heavy, medium to large parrots distinguished by having red undertail-coverts. Movements are poorly understood and unpredictable with the possibility of some nomadism. f/6.3, iso 800, exp comp minus one and two-thirds, 1/640. About a 10% crop of the original.
