Plum-throated Cotinga (Cotinga maynana)
Plum-throated Cotinga (Cotinga maynana)
Photo description
Male. From the wooden canopy tower, Sacha Lodge, Ecuador. The male is shiny turquoise-blue with a plum-purple throat. Unfortunately the throat looks black in this heavy crop. This canopy bird feeds exclusively on fruits and berries of many trees. It is apparently silent, no recordings of it exist. f/6.3, iso 800, exp comp plus one and one-third, 1/1000.

Wow, it looks like an imaginary bird! It's terrific that you show us these birds that otherwise we might not even know exist!
