Channel-billed Toucan (Ramphastos vitellinus)
Channel-billed Toucan (Ramphastos vitellinus)
Photo description
From the metal canopy tower, Sacha Lodge, Ecuador. Unlike the wooden canopy tower which goes right adjacent to a large tree, this one gives more of an overview of the forest. 48cm, bill 14cm. Uppertail coverts orange, bill has blue base to lower mandible, yellow base to upper mandible and culmen to yellow tip. Forages in canopy, mostly in small noisy bands that nimbly hop from branch to branch. Calls boldly from treetops. Overall 5.6 may be a better general aperture setting for this setup than 6.3. f/5.6, iso 400, exp comp minus 1.0, 1/1000.
