Photo description
A bird as spotted as that has to be a female and the feathers have come out so well that you can see that she has moulted primaries 8 to 3 (9 and 10 and 1 and 2 are old - quite worn in the case of the outer two). It will have taken two moults to replace those six primaries, so she should be in her third calendar year. Peter Wilkinson Wheathampstead, Herts, England
