Sharp-shinned Hawk (Accipiter striatus)
Sharp-shinned Hawk (Accipiter striatus)
Photo description
Juvenile Sharp-shinned I photographed in Iowa. It seems somewhat large and is probably a female. Although the tail of a sharpie usually has a squared off look juvenile sharpies can be somewhate rounded as seen here. The terminal white band on the tail is narrow and the streaking on the breast is somewhat wide and barred on the flanks.

This seems to be what I have here. I had trouble identifying it, but another Flickr member helped me out.

I'd agree with that. The bottom of the tail looks pretty squared off. Even more that mine which at first made me think mine might be a Cooper's.
