Green Backed Heron - Bird photography and identification
Ornate Hawk-Eagle (Spizaetus ornatus)
Ornate Hawk-Eagle (Spizaetus ornatus)
Photo description
Juvenile. These birds capture other birds up to the size of guans and vultures as well as medium sized mammals and large snakes and lizards. The juvenile called loudly as it came in and briefly perched. I watched it drop like a rock to the small river below and apparently catch something that it hauled into the forest. Settings for perched photo: iso 1600, f/8.0, 1/250, exposure comp 0. Canon 20D/100-400IS
