magnolia, Botanical genus Magnolia, (after Pierre Magnol (1638-1715) French botanist); ref. supposed habitat of the Magnolia Warbler. The breeding plumaged bird was photographed 5/21/05 in Iowa. White wing bars and black band on tail are characteristic. (esp helpful in fall plumage)
