Hoffmann's Two-toed Sloth (Choloepus hoffmanni)
Photo description
This nocturnal, herbivorous, arboreal creature apparently can live up to 32 years. (If you care to watch a sloth move from one tree to another, a distance that would take a few seconds for a monkey, plan to spend about a day or so. Sloths lead slow-motion lives.) They come to the ground only to urinate and defecate about once a week" (ref. A Neotropical Companion). The rare Harpy Eagle is a predator of the sloth. From Orotina in the central plaza.
