Mysore is the second largest city in the Indian state of Karnataka and is the administrative seat of Mysore District, and Mysore Division. It is located at 770 m above sea level at and is 135 km from Bangalore, the state capital. Mysore has been proposed to be renamed in English by the state government to Mysuru.
